Alderley Arms Hotel

The Alderley Arms Hotel

First licensed in 1886, the Alderley Arms Hotel helped cement the identity of the emerging Alderley township and formed part of an early commercial hub at the junction of Samford and Enoggera Roads. Long a true “local” for the surrounding neighbourhood, the pub has been a constant presence as the suburb has grown and evolved. (Queensland Places)

Cayas + Ward were engaged to deliver a complete internal refurbishment that respects this history while repositioning the venue for contemporary hospitality. The gaming room was expanded and fully modernised to create a brighter, more comfortable experience, while the bistro was enlarged and rebranded with a new identity that sits comfortably alongside the building’s original character. In the sports bar, layers of past fitouts were carefully stripped away to reveal and celebrate the existing structural timbers, giving the space a warmth and authenticity that speaks to the hotel’s 19th-century origins.

Across the venue, new finishes, lighting and detailing tie together the bistro, gaming and bar offers into a cohesive whole, balancing operational performance with the lived-in charm locals expect from their favourite pub. The revitalised Alderley Arms Hotel reinforces its role as a neighbourhood landmark – a place where the story of an 1880s corner pub continues into its next chapter.
